Ewald & Wasserman Research is Hiring a Field Interviewer Near Bakersfield, CA

Ewald & Wasserman (E&W) Research Consultants are looking for part-time, on-call field interviewers to work on several tobacco, public health related research studies throughout California. We are a survey research firm that provides research design, data collection and statistical analysis for a broad range of clients. 
Candidates applying should have a keen eye for detail, the ability to follow directions, and to work very well independently. Must be highly savvy in using an ipad and things like google sheets and Zoom. It is ideal for candidates with flexible schedules, positive, "can do" attitudes and a desire to learn about research practices. It is an good position for someone that likes to drive and visit different parts of CA. If you have collected tobacco related data before - this is a great position for you! You must live in the state of CA to apply for this job.
This is a job for someone who is very well organized and likes to map routes and drive to different locations. A candidate must feel comfortable working with an ipad to make observations at stores and to collect very meticulous data as well as sending daily reports via cell phone on google sheets. 
These studies require the use of a car, and driving to assigned locations where tobacco or VAPE products are sold in clustered areas in CA. There will be some locations that are several hours of driving and where overnights might be required. If you are required to stay overnight, you are given a federal per diem for that county for meals and lodging.
The first study will be starting in mid-April and will last for approximately 1-2 months. This will require attending a 3 day paid training and then receiving an assignment of locations to visit. The first study entails driving to assigned retail outlets in the state of CA and collecting data at VAPE shops. The hours will be flexible. The second study will start soon after that and also have a required paid training.
The rate of pay is $24 per hour and you are reimbursed for mileage if using your own car OR are asked to rent a car for which you are reimbursed. You are paid for your driving time.
Requirements for this position:
  • Extremely well organized
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Covid-19 Vaccination Required
  • Able to clearly follow directions and protocol
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to be accessible and responsive to main field office supervisor while on assignment
  • Ability to locate addresses using maps, GPS, and hand-held computer devices
  • Valid driver's license- Current car insurance (if you have car)
  • Comfortable being in diverse geographic areas
  • Background in social science, psychology, research
  • Flexible schedule/ability to work weekends
