Information Technology Director

The IT Director is responsible for technology at the business, which includes but is not limited to computers, servers, printers, and computer-enabled manufacturing equipment. The maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting of all hardware, software and networks will be the primary function of the IT Director. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. The role requires the ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. One will also need patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users. The main goal of this job will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Job Description:

• Install and configure software and hardware
• Configure, upgrade, and maintain all technology within the organization
• Work with other departments to setup and configure manufacturing equipment
• Keep all software up-to-date by performing regular patching and updating
• Manage cloud IT services such as Office 365
• Maintain an asset database of all technology that has been purchased and deployed
• Handle purchasing of new computers, servers, network gear, and printers
• Work with manufacturers to keep up to date on new software versions
• Update all technology in a timely manner
• Maintain an organizational wide domain of interconnected computers and equipment
• Prepare and maintain an ongoing technology budget for the organization • Test IT equipment for major security flaws or vulnerabilities
• Direct IT helpdesk person(s) on troubleshooting tasks
• Liaison with technical support for troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
• Meet with business leaders to present IT challenges and goals of the department
• Manage network servers and technology tools
• Set up accounts and workstations
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
• Troubleshoot issues and outages
• Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
• Upgrade systems with new releases and models
• Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
• Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
• Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Office365 knowledge and experience
