Description
Overview
The Financial Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role requires prior experience working in a manufacturing environment. The Financial Controller should have previous experience in a manufacturing accounting environment including standard costing, job costing, inventory accounting, and bills of material.
Responsibilities
· Prepares month-end financial statements in a timely manner, including all journal entries, account reconciliations, product costing, and bank reconciliations
· Generates monthly financial statements and prepares the monthly financial narrative reports for management and ownership
· Manages the customer invoicing and accounts receivable function to ensure sales are invoiced timely and that payments are collected and recorded in a timely manner
· Manages the accounts payable function and determines cash disbursements on a weekly basis
· Prepares short term cash forecasts on a weekly and quarterly basis
· Leads and directs physical inventory efforts with operations team including data entry, reconciliation, and reports
· Provides support and data to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns
· Establishes financial procedures and processes with all departments to ensure company financial controls are maintained and financial data is accurate
· Responsible for coordination of external audit and generates required financial data for audit review
· Responsible for maintaining fixed asset records and calculation of depreciation expense
· Responds effectively and efficiently to upper management special data requests
· Hires, train and develop staff based on needs of the department. Plans, assigns, and directs work, appraising and disciplining employees and problem resolution
Qualifications
· Five to eight years of as a Financial Controller or Assistant Controller, with three to five years in a manufacturing environment
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance (minimum)
· MBA and/or CPA preferred
· Ability to communicate with management, dealers, vendors, co-workers and others in a professional manner
· Follow all policies, regulations, procedures, and compliance with GAAP
· At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, with boat industry or other capital equipment exposure preferred
· Displays personal integrity, dependability, credibility, and ethical conduct
· Ability to understand and recognize the needs of co-workers as well as management
Physical Demands
This team member will work in an office environment at our manufacturing plant(s) from Monday thru Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
