Production Engineer

The Production Engineer will have a lead position in a variety of process engineering functions with a focus on successfully launching new products. The primary function is to support operations by developing efficient processes, 100% Accurate BOM/Routing, instructing employees, and managing timelines. This will be accomplished by launching products on schedule with minimal quality defects or delivery delays

• The production engineer should have general project management skills (checking with contractors and vendors).
• Work with R&D and program mgt to launch new equipment and processes to the floor.
• The production engineer should have experience doing layouts with Auto-Cad and ensure good production flow throughout the plant to increase and enhance efficiency.
• The production engineer will evaluate current manufacturing practices and process flows and identify those needing improvement.
• The engineer will assist in the development of plant layouts for improvements and/or new processes. Host layouts reviews with management.
• Apply Lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping, SMED, standardized work methods, etc.) to improve assigned processes
• Identify and resolve process improvements that lead to better cycle times, reduced scrap, and reduced labor.
• The engineer will routinely and randomly audit plant standards to determine the level of achievement and report the results to management.
• The engineer will identify problem areas and continuous improvement opportunities in material flow, material handling, warehouse sizing, WIP locations and sizing, methods, workplace layouts, and work standards. Analyze and make recommendations from the data gathered. Manage the implementation of agreed-upon solutions.
• The engineer will prepare CAD drawings, charts, graphs, diagrams, and layouts to illustrate workflow, routings, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.
• The engineer will prepare payback analysis and cost justification as required.
• The engineer will assist operation manager by developing material handling, material flow, and man-machine methods and ergonomics for new products and programs.
• The engineer will perform ergonomics analysis and assist with lifting and moving situations.

Education:

• Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

• BOM, routing and SAP systems must
• Microsoft Excel: 4 years (Preferred)
• Manufacturing: 4 years (Preferred)
• AutoCAD: 4 years (Preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Ability to lead and manage cross-departmental teams
• Project management experience
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Must be comfortable with running and trouble-shooting machinery or has shown aptitude working on mechanical / electrical / pneumatic systems
