Esri is Hiring a Technical Consultant - Leadership Near Redlands, CA

Overview

Provide vision and leadership while promoting the use of Esri technology to enable customer success. You will impact the development and growth of our technology into new domains by working closely with industry experts throughout the company. The Technology Services department is looking for a Technical Consultant to join the Tech Leads team. This team works across PS to define, create, and promote project technical leadership best practices and guidelines as well as supporting the delivery of critical/sensitive projects.

ArcGIS provides contextual tools for mapping and spatial reasoning so users can explore data and share location-based insights. Esri’s Professional Services Division plays a crucial role in the innovation of the ArcGIS enterprise mapping and analytics platform. Responsibilities

  • Be a thought leader. Help foster a sense of community among industry leaders. Advise customers regarding innovative solutions using Esri technology and content to help them make better decisions. Recommend relevant strategies, architectures, and solutions and work with customers to prepare implementation and migration strategies. 
  • Operate as a technical lead. Manage the technical delivery team and coordinate all aspects of the project technical implementation. Provide mentorship and guidance to other technical staff on designing, implementing, and optimizing different solutions spanning applications, data, and systems.
  • Understand our customers and know their business. Be familiar with the mission and operations of our customers including knowledge of common goals and initiatives, procurement cycles, and business processes. Advise customers regarding innovative solutions using Esri technology and content to help them make better decisions. 
  • Enable our customers to be successful. Work closely with customers to identify, design, and certify key GIS workflows for the ArcGIS platform. Provide configuration guidance and best practices to customers and understand how Esri’s technology enables the customer’s stated vision. Collaborate with customer IT organizations to align their technical objectives and business goals with Esri’s technology. 
  • Develop and grow business. Collaborate with Esri’s practice managers and marketing and sales teams to support business development for technology and implementation patterns with new and existing customers. Identify the value of location within customer workflows and drive substantial return on their investment in Esri's enterprise technology and services by creating outstanding proposals and winning work with strategic customers. Present complex GIS technical demonstrations to various levels of technical and non-technical staff in a diverse range of customer organizations.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in a similar position, supporting similar responsibilities
  • Professional experience designing, implementing, and/or administrating enterprise GIS solutions/systems that leverage the ArcGIS platform (desktop, server, and online)
  • Experience with Esri software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Runtime and their associated APIs or interfaces
  • Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, and more
  • Strong, persuasive communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate and translate a customer’s business goals, objectives, and strategies into technical plans and solutions
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other technical peers or non-technical project managers or customers
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written/verbal communication, multi-tasking, and presentation skills 
  • Bachelor’s in geography, computer science, engineering, mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or STEM related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with software engineering and/or robust application development principles and practices 
  • Experience with current technology implementation patterns including service-oriented and cloud computing architecture
  • Master`s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or STEM related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $74,880 - $150,280.
