ESC engineering is Hiring a Locator Technician - 103 Near Denver, CO

We deliver expertise to pipeline operators, utility companies, and other energy stakeholders in six specialized service disciplines: Asset Integrity, Engineering, Field Services, Geographic Information System (GIS) Services, Regulatory Compliance, and Software and Technology.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Field Inspector (Locator) is part of a team working on the gas utilities infrastructure critical for hundreds of thousands of people. Our Solutions Locator team is vital in ensuring that crews work safely. These duties involve determining where underground utilities can be placed and where existing utilities are located.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Make SAFETY the #1 priority by adhering to and enforcing all company safety standards.
  • Ensure all field locate & mark activities adhere to the company specifications and standards.
  • Responsible for the ongoing compliance of all line locate & mark procedures and providing the best possible field assurance services to the client’s operations.
  • Maintain well documented Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) for all inspection worksite and contractor activities to include special notes of any incidents that arise.
  • Utilize maps and blueprints to identify and mark the location of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, oil, and electric lines.
  • Document interactions, site information and utilities in organizational software.
  • Communicate with customers and internal leadership.
  • Use a variety of techniques including electronic, magnetic, blueprint analysis, and/or radar to measure utilities.
  • Provide daily and weekly production data reports.
  • Post informational door tags/letters notifying residents of our inspection procedures.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with client and their contractors, other team members, and consistently deliver excellent client work.
  • Execute job duties safely and in accordance with company policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to obtain OQ qualifications for mark out duties -REQUIRED
  • Minimum one year installing/maintaining underground utilities, specifically natural gas distribution system piping and equipment OR performing third party inspection for the installation of these facilities.
  • Required to have general knowledge, and the successful completion of the following training, certification and evaluations:
o Operator Qualification (OQ)
o Emergency Response
o Damage Prevention
o OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 DESIRED)
o 1st AID / CPR
o Mandatory PPE – Personal Protective Equipment will be company issue
  • Experience with installation or inspection of natural gas transmission, water, wastewater, oil/gas, or other utilities may be considered.
  • Ability to read and understand construction/technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to use email, mobile devices, MS Office, and PDF software during your daily activities, including completed technical documentation.
  • Ability to manage difficult customers, call center experience a plus.
  • Ability to read maps and blueprints.
  • Knowledgeable in excavations and hazards associated.
  • Ability to work independently in an outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to pass DOT (compliant) drug screen.
