Position Description
Will be supporting mission-critical systems hosted on physical and virtual servers in an active clustering environment. Job duties include:

• General Red Hat Linux system administration, security patching, OS upgrades, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring maximum availability.
• Write system scripts for daily administration and have the ability to document system infrastructure.
• Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software and hardware related problems.
• Perform system backups and recovery.
• Maintain system and application data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
• Monitor system health and configurations in order to ensure system health and functionality as well as remediate problems/issues in a timely manner.
• Must be willing to work on a 24X7 on-call basis on a rotating schedule with other system administrators.

Required Skills
8 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years working with Satellite content views, registrations, and host collections.

• Strong Linux knowledge and experience / expertise in Red Hat Satellite Server, capsule servers, replication and syncing.
• Strong Automation / scripting skills (Ansible and Puppet).
• Expert knowledge of a variety of Linux/Unix operating systems and specific experience with RHEL7 preferred.
• Knowledge of scripting languages including Perl, Python, shell scripting, and related tools.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Big Brother, Check_MK Nagios and others.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools in a data center environment.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Willing and able to work non-standard hours (evenings, nights)
• NetApp or VMWare expertise
• Perl and/or Python scripting expertise

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.

Education
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, related discipline, or equivalent.

The Weather and Climate Infrastructure Services (WCCIS) contract supports the NWS's Central Processing and Information Dissemination portfolios. The contract is managed by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations (NCO). WCCIS supports NCO's mission which is to deliver national and global weather, water, climate and space weather guidance, forecasts, warnings and analyses to a broad range of users and partners.
