Equitas Academy Charter Schools is Hiring a Recreation Aide Part-Time (22/23 School Year) Near Los Angeles, CA

The mission of Equitas Academy Charter Schools is to provide a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to graduate from four-year colleges and universities. We currently serve over 1,800 students and operate four elementary schools and two middle schools in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Role Definition:

The Recreation Aide (Rec Aide) at Equitas Academy provides support for scholars by leading physical education lessons and activities and supervising students during free play.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Create and lead daily physical education lessons for elementary students including exercise, structured games, and free play

• Use dedicated prep time to prepare physical education lessons and materials

• Maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement

• Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining school culture

• Assist teachers during the school day with oversight and supervision of students 

• Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition 

• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, families, and other stakeholders 

• Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; BA or some college preferred

• Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test

• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred 

• Strong communication skills with students and parents

• A minimum of 6 months experience working with and supervising children preferred

• Current CPR and 1st Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment

Hourly Rate: $15-$18/hour
