Position Overview

This position is responsible for the profitability and sales growth in their specific product category. This position generates purchase orders for direct shipments to customers. Expedites direct orders as needed, sources new products via request for price process, maintains good vendor relations, and interfaces with other departments on issues of product availability and pricing.

Responsibilities Include:

• Utilize advanced demand planning system to manage the demand forecast including review, adjustments and integration of sales/customer input to set a firm demand plan for purchasing.
• Review daily inventory needs given forecast to finalize purchase order items and quantities including planning date, pallet quantities, PO minimums, etc.
• Manage inventory levels on assigned line to ensure effective management of hybrid capital including service stock and order quantity parameters.
• Lead all communication, expediting and management of purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
• Lead management of Excess and Obsolete Inventory within the line through sales/customer pushes, supplier returns, etc.
• Participate in scorecarding and supplier business reviews on pain points associated with service and delivery to ensure communication of key NA inventory needs.
• Manage item master in ERP system to ensure planning parameters / inputs are managed effectively and accurately.
• Communicate with sales staff and sales management on a daily one-to-one basis. Field inquiries and questions. Resolve urgent and emergency situations. Suggest source on alternative products for margin enhancement.
• Position can be remote.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5-10 years’ experience in a similar environment / industry
• Proven ability in work experience to deliver against objectives and expectations of Sr. Buyer role
• Intended to take on full work load commensurate with sr. buyer as well as lead an additional metric or process within the department within the first 12 months
• Ability to interface with all departments, particularly sales.
