Duties and Responsibilities:

Engineer in the Army’s tactical radio lab (ULTR-A) responsible for regression testing of new software and hardware for the Army’s tactical radio systems.

Supporting SW and Hardware testing of the next generation of handheld and manpack two channel radios:

• AN/PRC-148C/D Leader Radio
• AN/PRC-163 Leader Radio
• AN/PRC-158 GEN2 Manpack Radio
• AN/PRC-162 GEN2 Manpack Radio

Acceptance Verification Testing on the new WREN-TSM waveform operating on the AN/PRC-148D radio. P2P data testing of the waveform operating under controlled conditions.

Participate in Lab Based Risk Reduction testing for the manpack and leader radios. Write the Test Case Record documents for multiple tests. Document test procedures, data required/expected test configuration and test analysis. Conduct Power Out, Receive Sensitivity, Data Throughput, System of Systems, Multiple Levels of Independent Security (MILS), Software Upgrade, Operation with Legacy Radios, Near/Far Interference and String Topology tests.

Engineering for P2P Data Testing with the TSM/WREN-TSM waveforms. Create test plans and test configurations for both Leader Radios and Manpack radio systems. Load SW onto Linux based laptops cabled the radios and made hundreds of test runs to evaluate multiple frequencies, bandwidths and data rates.

Re-wrote the Test Case Record Sheet Templates to make them more user friendly and acceptable to all testers. Converted a cumbersome EXCEL Worksheet to a more flexible WORD document. Created tables to capture and standardized the data collection. These forms were adopted by the ULTRA Lab engineers to be the new standard for testing.

Responsible for safeguarding COMSEC keying materials and tracking documentation. Complete mandatory COMSEC training required for the position.

Support SW Regression Testing of the AN/PRC-158 radio.

Conduct regression tests with SW v2.4.0A comparing performance with that obtained during the Lab Based Risk Reduction series conducted previously.

Conduct TX Power Out, RX Sensitivity, P2P Voice and P2P Data and Nett Warrior Day in the Life (DITL) tests.
