Overview

FUNCTION

The DSA Revenue Recognition Senior will be responsible for all aspects of revenue recognition for a $150 million segment of a publicly traded corporation that is in growth mode. This position will centralize the revenue recognition process under percentage of completion standards for the business unit. This role will need to work effectively with their revenue team and the operational teams in order to ensure accurate reporting, as well as being a partner to the business. The DSA Revenue Recognition Senior reports to the DSA Revenue Recognition Manager.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation of working 3-4 days in the office. 

Responsibilities

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

DSA Coordination of Revenue recognition including but not limited to:

  • Assist with centralization of the revenue recognition process from current site controllers
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, specifically ASC 606, for revenue recognition under the percentage of completion method
  • Complete site revenue recognition process and standards 
  • Execute all revenue related controls and processes accurately and in a timely manner to ensure SOX compliance
  • Prepare periodic proposed adjustments compared to system generated percentages and document variances
  • Complete unbilled and deferred revenue account reconciliations that work hand in hand with the revenue recognition process
  • Calculate backlog by site and explain large fluctuations
  • Work with site leadership to ensure monthly revenue recognition is in line with operations during the month
  • Prepare and provide explanations for variance between budget and actual revenue figures for the month
  • Recommend improvements to processes as centralization is completed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3 years of experience
  • Public accounting / auditing experience is preferred
  • Experience with percentage of completion revenue recognition

SKILLS 

  • Results driven, able to focus on organizational growth and financial performance 
  • Must have strong executive presence and the ability to communicate concisely with leadership, but also dig in to analyze data as needed 
  • Strong analytical skills to continually monitor and assess the revenue recognition process
  • A high level of interpersonal skills that can communicate effectively with accounting team members, but also operational teams such as site leaders and study direction
  • Ability to independently drive projects to completion, while also functioning effectively in a team environment. 
  • A working mentality that is transparent, inclusive, customer focused and committed to results with a strong sense of personal accountability and outstanding integrity, with the ability to motivate and develop a high performing team. 
  • Experience in working in collaborative environments to achieve long term strategic objectives
