Entergy is Hiring an Accountant I, II, III (General Ledger and Internal Reporting) Near Orleans, LA

*** This position will be filled as an Accountant I, II, or III depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate***
Job Summary/Purpose:
This role is a part of the General Ledger team with significant focus on General Ledger processes, Amortizations or Allocations. Owns and/or executes key accounting processes. Coordinates with teams internal and external to accounting. Participates in system and/or process improvement initiatives as well as creates and communicates analytical results. Establishes and maintains accounting controls and executes Sarbanes Oxley internal control testing.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Performs assignments requiring understanding and application of accounting principles, practices, and concepts
  • Consults and troubleshoots system enhancement, issues or interfaces including upstream and downstream impacts
  • Identifies opportunities to re-engineer systems and processes to improve financial information
  • Participates in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process
  • Maintains codeblock and advises on use and related rules
  • Understands internal controls and relationship to General Ledger processes
Minimum education required of the position:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Desired: Advanced Degree.
Minimum experience required of the position:
Accountant I: 0-2 years of experience in accounting
Accountant II: 2-3 years of experience in accounting.
Accountant III: 3 years of experience in accounting.
Utility accounting experience desired; working knowledge of the FERC uniform system of accounts a plus.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of this position:
Working knowledge of accounting processes and controls; Excellent oral and written communications skills with all levels of the organization; Proficiency with use of MS Office application; Displays strong analytical skills by efficiently using knowledge of tools and business processes to identify problems and resolve issues; Ability to work independently and team environment; Strong focus on process improvements. Technical systems-based capabilities desired.
