The Human Resources Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, energetic, and passionate about creating a positive impact in our employees lives and the success of the company’s mission and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizations human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Assists VP of HR with providing support and guidance to HR team, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Collaborates with marketing department to develop and maintain organizational HR communications such as intranet bulletin boards and newsletters.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
  • Assists with analysis of trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Direct and plan the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, health savings plan, retirement plans, etc.).
  • Designs and distributes materials for benefits, orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions. Provides training and support to employees.
  • Oversees and supervises the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Provides training and support to employees.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing system to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Oversees and administers leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
