Job Description

Job Title: Sales Engineer, Full Time 

Department: Corporate

Location: San Luis Obispo, CA

The Sales Engineer will take a lead role in Empirical Systems Aerospace (ESAero) revenue generation and profitability. The Sales Engineer reports to the Sales Manager and provides customer outreach and support during the entire sales process. The Sales Engineer must have outstanding technical knowledge and experience and mastery of the sales processes for best performance in this fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • This position will be responsible for the sales of ESAERO products and services.
  • Identify potential customers. Call, email and visit to introduce products and field customer inquiries.
  • Attend conferences and trade shows to network.
  • Coordinate with business development administration to maintain Sales Force database.
  • Develop and maintain sales forecast to advise production on upcoming manufacturing and supply chain requirements.
  • Work with customers to confirm need, timing and availability of products and services.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of proposals.
  • Gain customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating product capabilities and operations.
  • Focus on closing of the sales process and processing of purchase orders with superior communication. Assist in negotiations.
  • Maintain customer relationships with regular outreach and solicitation of feedback. Capture customer feedback and transmit to ESAero team for product improvements and future offerings.
  • Rapidly and accurately address customer requests.
  • Ensure the application of the highest ethical standards in all sales transactions.
  • Submit purchase orders into ESAero business systems for build.
  • Work with finance/accounting to ensure timely collection and recording of purchasing commitments and invoices.

Education:

Education: 4-year degree in Engineering, Business or a Communication related area.

Experience:

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 years of technical sales experience.
  • Experience selling engineered products is required.
  • Proficiency with computerized sales management systems is required, Sales Force is preferred
  • Prior government sales experience is a plus.
  • Superb interpersonal skills are required.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Judgment:

  • Proven experience in sales.
  • A sound knowledge of the sales process.
  • MS Office principles and software
  • Internet fundamentals, principles, software
  • Analysis and Synthesis: to understand all manner of issues and develop solutions to close sales.
  • Motivated self starter.
  • U.S Citizenship Required

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Judgement:

  • Aviation or Military Experience preferred
  • SalesForce experience or equivalent
  • DCAA knowledge and experience
  • Contracting (government and commercial) terms and conditions

Language Skills:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with the Customers, Operations team, Project Management, Finance, and Senior Leadership.

Reasoning Ability:

Results-oriented approach to sales success. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must be able to work with Customers, Operations, Senior Leadership and staff to provide information in a useful for optimization of organizational performance.

Physical Demands:

Ability to travel (up to 50%). Capability to set-up and attend trade shows and conferences.

Work Environment:

Work will be conducted in an office environment; onsite required. Willingness to conduct travel as required (50%).
