Empire Paper sells a range of facility supplies, janitorial supplies, cleaning supplies and equipment, office supplies and furniture, safety supplies, packaging and foodservice products, commercial laundry and ware wash systems. Empire services an array of industries: commercial facilities, schools and universities, food service and food processing, government, healthcare, hospitality and entertainment, manufacturing, retail, and commercial laundry and ware wash.

**You must complete the skills test and phone screening to be considered for this position**

The HR Generalist will be responsible for:

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program, files EEO-1 report annually, and maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification and periodically audits Forms I-9
  • Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other government regulations
  • Conducts all annual benefit audits required. Section 125 NDT, Fidelity NDT
  • Updates and maintains physical and digital personnel records and other HR files in compliance with applicable laws, in a timely manner, and in the best interest (ease of access) of the organization
  • Confirms FMLA eligibility, processes paperwork, and tracks leave time
  • Creates a recruitment plan and calendar according to administrative, operational and sales projections
  • Conducts hiring process by coordinating job postings on websites, receiving application materials, reviewing application materials, conducting reference checks, and participating in interviews as needed for exempt and nonexempt personnel
  • Completes in-processing and onboarding of new hires and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations
  • Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process, coordinates employee benefit programs and communicates with service providers concerning routine administration of programs
  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans, reviews benefits with employees, and processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes
  • Administers all employee benefits including the reporting of workers’ compensation cases
  • Verifies benefit billing accuracy and approves invoices for payment
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement. Takes appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination, against employees who violate rules and regulations and addresses employee grievances.
  • Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner and attends unemployment hearings when necessary
  • Coaches, counsels, and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions and maintains employee progressive discipline documentation
  • Generates official internal documents such as offer letters, training schedules, warnings, and terminations
  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all organization personnel, assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, and maintains the employee handbook and other policy and procedure manuals
  • Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are conducted in a regularly scheduled and timely manner
  • Writes and maintains current job descriptions
  • Assists in coordinating and delivering training
  • Creates, collaborates, and coordinates with department and upper management on employee engagement plans, employee recognition programs, getting necessary budget approval and initiating activities
  • Acts as an employee relations specialist to balance corporate needs, employee goodwill, and business needs
  • Issues employee satisfaction surveys and solicits continuous feedback from employees
  • Be able to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check

The ideal candidate should:

  • College degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Have at least three (3) years of job-related human resources experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Applicants with a SHRM, CP or PHR certification are preferred.

The position is full-time exempt, Monday - Friday

Hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
