JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Implements the Safeguarding the Entire Community of the U.S. Research Ecosystem (SECURE) Center's National co-creation strategy that aligns with the SECURE Center's mission and vision.
• Leads and coaches a team of designers, researchers, and cross-functional team members in co-design best practices.
• Champions the co-design approach across the organization, advocating for user-centered, participatory, and collaborative design processes.
• Organizes and leads co-design workshops, ideation sessions, and collaborative events involving internal teams, stakeholders (research administrators, researchers, funders).
• Fosters strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring their active participation and meaningful contribution throughout the design process.
• Creates an inclusive environment where all voices are heard, especially those of marginalized or underrepresented groups.
• Gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes user insights and feedback that inform the co-design process.
• Ensures that user and stakeholder needs, pain points, and desires are deeply understood and integrated into the design of SECURE software products and services.
• Uses qualitative and quantitative data to synthesize design recommendations, guide decision-making, and validate design concepts.
• Works closely with leadership and other teams to translate co-design outcomes into actionable design specifications, prototypes, and final products.
• Oversees the iterative design process, ensuring that prototypes are evaluated with users and refined based on feedback.
• Ensures that the final design solutions are align with strategic objectives.
• Manages co-design projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
• Develops project plans, set milestones, and track progress, while maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing needs and feedback.
• Communicates project status, insights, and outcomes to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of co-design processes and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Shares learnings and insights with the broader organization to promote a culture of innovation and collaboration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Design, User Experience, Service Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Social Sciences, Engineering, or a related field and five years of experience in design, user experience, service design, or a related field, with a focus on co-design or participatory design methodologies.
• Proven experience leading co-design initiatives and facilitating workshops with diverse groups of stakeholders.
• Strong background in user research, human-centered design, and product development.
• Experience with design and/or development in complex multi-stakeholder domains such as healthcare, education, policy, or cybersecurity is preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
