Description

The Hecker research team is looking for an individual to perform clerical duties and prepare financial reports and budgets for the principal investigator (PI). The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual that wants to join a dynamic, energetic, and highly team-oriented lab carrying out research in the areas of drug discovery and age-related lung disease. A flexible attitude is a must, as the position requires frequent shifts in direction to achieve deadlines and team goals. The Hecker team culture is detail-oriented (quality and precision focused), people-oriented (supportive and fair), and team-oriented (cooperative and collaborative).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedules appointments, meetings and maintains calendars for PI
  • Prepares and processes financial documents including expense reports, budgets, and invoices, etc.
  • Creates and maintains filing systems, both electronic and physical
  • Books and manages travel
  • Accesses a variety of computer information systems and databases to enter, retrieve, and verify data
  • Performs other supportive duties as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Very strong organizational skills
  • Accounting experience: Especially the ability to prepare budget documents
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment to accomplish goals
  • Flexible and adaptable to change tasks/priorities regularly
  • Growth mindset and willingness to learn new skills
  • Business level fluency in English

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma (or equivalent) and two years of administrative experience
  • Minimum of two years of financial accounting and/or budgeting experience or a degree in accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Very strong organizational skills

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
