Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Consults with management and staff to design, develop and maintain a website.
  • Develops, writes, and edits various communications materials including correspondence, newsletters, brochures, and articles.
  • Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.
  • Maintains required record-keeping and documentation.
  • May train staff in the use of communications technology.
  • May utilize various aspects of social media to accomplish work objectives.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Works closely with the director of marketing and communications to coordinate various communications activities for the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University.
  • Gathers and creates eloquent content to support museum marketing and communications and assists with proofreading and copy editing to ensure all materials align with the Carlos Museum’s voice and style guide.
  • Collaborates with various museum departments, including museum curators and education staff, to gather information needed for museum stories to support museum initiatives.
  • Drafts and disseminates press releases, social media posts, calendar listings, email marketing, and other stories to raise brand awareness of the Carlos Museum.
  • Manages content updates for the Carlos Museum’s website and social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, and uploads videos of past programming for the museum’s YouTube page.
  • Attends and documents various museum events to help drive story ideas, gather photography, and help with social media outreach.
  • Monitors and measures museum marketing and public relations efforts.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours, salaried.
  • Work from home options available according to Emory University policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effective communicator, both written and oral, with excellent knowledge of proper grammar and active voice.
  • Passion for museums, marketing, and storytelling.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of social media platforms strongly, experience using Later, or other social media scheduling tools.
  • Comfortable using Google Analytics.
  • Experience with Drupal, Cascade, or similar CMS platforms.
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Canva, or other graphic design programs.
  • Knowledge of AP, Chicago, and/or additional writing styles.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
