Job Summary:
Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) program as the Mobile Lead.
The Mobile Cyber Security Engineer will be part of the Mobile Integration Solution Team (MIST) supporting the EHRM program with a specific focus on the technical engineering & cybersecurity elements around mobile devices, mobile applications, mobile technologies, and mobile security to integrate COTS mobile solutions to the new Cerner Millennium EHR.
Serve as the mobile technical liaison between vendors and various government stakeholders. Lead the mobile engineering & cybersecurity team implementing mobile lifecycle (from design to deployment & sustainment). Technical depth and breadth to make technical tradeoff decisions, often with incomplete data. Experience working across teams in geographically diverse locations. Clearly communicate risk and implementation details to clients and project stakeholders. Continuously improve engineering processes and capabilities. Provide ongoing consultation to development teams to clarify business requirements.
Assists with the development of technology point-of-views, standards, and roadmaps for the implementation of mobile technologies.
Minimum qualifications:
10 years of professional work experience
Must have extensive IT experience in all aspects of Cyber Security with a vast array of IT systems involving end users as well as enterprise-level networks.
Ability to think critically, work in group settings, and be proactive in pursuing research and problem solving with minimal supervision
Possess strong writing and communications skills
Possess working knowledge of core cybersecurity principles such as Risk Management Framework (NIST 800-37)
Must have experience with mobile technology including mobile device security, mobile operating systems, and/or embedded operating systems
Must have extensive experience in Cyber Security Tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks.
Define, review, and enforce information security policies, standards, and guidelines for mobile operations
Ability to participate in cross-functional teams providing consultation on information security designs with a focus on mobile devices and applications
Working knowledge of vetting the security of mobile applications process (NIST 800-163)
Must have experience in both cybersecurity and engineering of mobile technologies (systems and applications) used in a healthcare setting
Must have experience documenting a mobile solution under the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to obtain an agency-level ATO/ATC.
Must have experience with developing and implementing solutions to complex IT and cybersecurity problems
Must have experience setting technical direction, providing technical expertise, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders, teams, and vendors to develop an enterprise mobile solution
Must have experience authoring white papers, position papers, and/or recommendations for senior leaders (i.e., executives)
Master's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline, or an additional 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in the VA
Experience implementing Electronic Health Records
Experience with deploying Enterprise Mobile Management solutions
Experience with integrating mobile device security following federal government standards
