Emergent Talent, a division of Emergent Method, is looking for qualified candidates to support development activities for a state government agency project. This is a full-time position based in Baton Rouge, LA. U.S.-based remote candidates available for some travel to Baton Rouge will be considered and are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate is experienced, self-motivated, and adept in handling a wide range of development tasks. This individual must be flexible, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and willing to embrace the challenges of supporting the continued development and success of a growing workforce.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to design, steer, and produce software design and architecture solutions
• Build new systems with C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Web API, MVC
• Write clean, scalable code using .NET programming languages
• Perform API development activities to connect with other apps and outside data systems as needed
• Participate in requirements analysis / product backlog grooming
• Improve existing software code by revising, updating, refactoring, and debugging code
• Involved in various phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) including developing documentation
• Serve as an expert on applications and provide technical support
• Develop new functionality on existing software products
• Responsible for successful completion of code deliverables within projects
• Communicate daily status updates to key stakeholders and project team

Ideal candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, ISDS, or related field
• At least three-to-five years of experience as a .NET Developer
• Experience with Entity Framework
• Proficient with C#, ASP.Net, MVC, WebAPI, Microservices, Monolithic applications
• Familiarity with the ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns (e.g. Model-View-Controller (MVC))
• Experience with HTML5, CSS is a plus
• Experience with RESTful services
• Experience with agile frameworks such as Scrum, XP, etc.
• Experience with Jira
• Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
• Experience applying new technologies to business needs in a technologically innovative, change-driven organization
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
