The Restorative Aide assists in the development and execution of the Restorative Nursing program, providing direct restorative and personal care to the residents of Paramount Community Living and Rehab. Duties are performed in accordance with recognized standards, the laws of Kansas and the Mission Statement of Paramount.

Responsibilities for Restorative Care:

  • Job duties can include any task that helps the resident to attain or maintain the highest possible functional ability, and that falls within the scope of practice for the Restorative Aide and CNA.
  • Support and foster meaningful relationships with residents, families and visitors.
  • Implement and maintain the individual resident's restorative therapy program as assigned by the Restorative Program Supervisor and according to the resident's care plan.
  • Carry out physical activity in maintenance or the practice of skills already learned or decided upon and assigned by the PT, OT, ST and as directed by the Restorative Supervisor.
  • Prepare the resident for treatments and administer routine treatments including assisting with personal care, i.e., dressing, toileting, etc.
  • Apply and remove assistive and/or supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings prior to, and after treatments.
  • Participate in routine exercise programs and activity treatments such as gait training, bicycle or maintenance exercise and range of motion.
  • Facilitate the restorative dining program as outlined by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Facilitate the speech therapy program as outlined by the Speech Therapist.
  • Observe and report any untoward signs or unexpected effects during treatment to supervisor, licensed nurse, or the unit coordinator.
  • Maintain equipment. Insure is it clean after treatments. Report any malfunctioning or unsafe equipment to supervisor. Use and operate equipment in a safe manner.
  • Secure and maintain hydrotherapy equipment at appropriate temperature and water level and add disinfectant solutions as recommended by the manufacturer of the equipment.Change water monthly.
  • Adjust and fit supportive and assistive devices for residents as instructed by the Physical Therapist and directed by their supervisor.
  • Demonstrate safety in the delivery of care. Observe and participate in staff education on safe delivery of care.
  • Practice universal precautions and proper disposal of infectious waste at all times.
  • Document treatment, including observations and progress.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have current Kansas CNA certification and one year experience.
  • Successful completion of Restorative Aide Program with certification or willing to obtain certificate as soon as possible.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be capable of understanding and following oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with team members and residents.
  • Positive attitude toward the ill and the elderly.
