Summary: Leads, develops, and drives implementation of EMC's internal communications strategy to communicate information, create understanding, foster engagement, and build culture among various internal audiences. Consults with senior leaders and recommends a communications strategy for general and sensitive announcements, including executive communications, people leader communications and enablement, and cascading communications throughout the organization. Oversees internal corporate communications strategy, including channel and messaging, for EMC, such as intranet, internal print and electronic publications. Proactively develops and executes communications plans for internal business partners. Serves as the main point of contact for internal and external communications and partners with the Assistant Vice President (AVP)-Community Involvement on external communications efforts and media relations. Collaborates with other MarCom leaders to integrate communications with marketing efforts and to leverage content across channels. Essential Functions: Develops and executes EMC's internal communications strategy, to communicate information, create understanding, foster engagement, and build culture among various internal audiences Creates communication plans and messaging that aligns with EMC’s overall strategic vision and operations plans, including marketing efforts Identifies topics, key messages, speakers, to create slides and prepare speakers with talking points, and coordinates with others to ensure alignment with the overall communications approach for key internal meetings, such as Quarterly Team Member Meetings Plans out communications strategically to combine and align communications efforts and activities throughout the company, partnering with internal groups, such as HR, Corporate Administration, Facilities, Risk Improvement, Compliance, IT, Claims, and other departments Develops, executes, and maintains EMC's strategy for its internal corporate and branch communications channels, including the EMC intranet, internal print and electronic publications, internal videos, internal group meetings, team member events, and other corporate communication channels Creates communication distribution plans and messaging, ensuring alignment with overall EMC strategic vision and operational plans, as well as EMC marketing efforts Identifies topics, key messages, and speakers to determine the best internal communication executing approaches for key internal meetings, such as Quarterly Team Member Meetings Responds to reporter inquiries from print, digital, and broadcast media Screens media calls, determines best response approach, develops key messages Creates news releases, company statements, briefing materials, talking points, FAQs, pitch emails and other media materials for corporate needs and all marketing campaigns Oversees and monitors the workload and performance of the team Guides team through complex work issues and answers questions Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field Ten years of experience in corporate communications and/or public relations Insurance industry experience preferred Previous leadership or supervisory experience Communications or public relations designations (such as APR) preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe Suite, and publishing software Advanced understanding of working with media outlets and news reporters Ability to drive results and problem-solve creatively Ability to effectively build relationships by establishing trust, credibility and adding value Excellent organizational and follow-through skills Advanced ability to lead project teams effectively Ability to work as part of a team Advanced verbal and written communication skills Excellent proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail and project coordination skills Our employment practices are in accord with the laws which prohibit discrimination due to race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, religion, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, veteran status, active military status, citizenship status, marital status or any other consideration made unlawful by federal, state, or local laws.
