Position: Buyer Specialist (Construction & Engineering) - ONSITE
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay Range: $25-45/hr
Contract Length: Approximately 12 months with possible extension
Job overview
Under general supervision, achieves International Procurement Services (IPS) objectives at client based on strong networking and collaboration with Engineering and Facilities teams. Key contributor to the procurement of construction services, production machines, and equipment for the VAN.EA expansion at client. Supports the procurement, tracking, monitoring and execution of contracts, interfacing with VAN.EA project teams, Finance, Legal, and management in the United States.
Duties and responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Local Buyer Specialist is to support National Buyers for Construction and Equipment in achieving procurement objectives.
Buyer is expected to complete the following activities in regular work:
Drive communication concerning VAN EA initiatives, procurement activity, timelines and budgets between International Procurement Services (IPS) and client’s Facilities and Engineering Teams.
Assist in problem resolution, escalation and daily operations of IPS.
Consult IPS National Buyers and ensure timely updates related to VAN EA activity.
Provide transparency to IPS Senior Management and other business units as needed about the current status and performance of IPS in the VAN EA Project.
Cooperate closely with the other IPS units and Global Commodity Managers to achieve alignment and synergies within IPS business units related to Construction and Equipment Purchases.
Participate in onsite and virtual VAN EA steering committees and project meetings. -Initiate and see to completion requests for quote, competitive bids, and strategic sourcing tasks at the direction of National Buyers.
Complete bid leveling, cost driver analysis, and quote comparisons.
Complete PowerPoint presentation slides to share critical information and key messages.
Use IPS ProQ suite of systems and Finance Supplier Database to review data, enter contracts, RFQs and Legal Terms and Conditions, onboard suppliers, and finalize contracts.
Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws.
Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources. Work safely 100% of the time.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Business Administation or equivalent professional experience and education
Professional Experience
A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s): Purchasing, Project Management, Business Administration, Finance.
Required Experience
Knowledge of purchasing processes, systems and tools as well as sound experience with their application.
Highly effective communication skills both written and verbal.
Proven ability to conduct project planning, monitoring and implementation.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint etc.) Fluent in English.
Preferred skills
Additional knowledge of German and/or Spanish.
Experience as an operational buyer within a large, multinational company.
