Elgin Power is Hiring a Technical Writer Near Stafford, TX

Elgin Separation has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer.

This position is an opportunity to apply your skills for a company whose products include Customized Technology for a variety of industrial markets including construction, fiber-optics, recycling, waste management, O&G drilling, food and beverage, and dredging. Technical Writer Responsibilities:

  • Write and maintain technical documents including but not limited to: Operator Manuals and Procedures, Training Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, Technical Service Bulletins, Installation Instructions, Overhaul and Repair Instructions, Parts and Provisioning Documentation, in accordance with internal and customer specifications and requirements
  • Research and collect information from a variety of sources including manuals, white papers, design specifications, engineering drawings, assembly procedures, bills of material, test plans & procedures, etc.
  • Review and revise documents and procedures including, equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance/repair procedures, etc. to standardize manufacturing documentation
  • Ensure that the documents are clear, concise, and technically accurate. Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts to increase users’ understanding
  • Participate in formal design reviews to generate notes and action items

Technical Writer Requirements:

  • B.S. in a technical writing discipline is preferred, but not necessarily required for a candidate who has relevant 4 years’ experience technical writing experience in equipment manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret system specifications, assembly/test procedures, engineering drawings, charts, wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Must have strong communication skills (both verbal and written); must be able to take complex, technical information and translate it for colleagues and consumers who have nontechnical backgrounds
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to multitask and create, maintain, and manage multiple project objectives according to deadlines
  • Proficient in a range of Microsoft products (e.g. Word, Power Point, Excel)
  • Proficient in producing well-written English language documentation
