Overview

Our client in Virginia Beach is seeking two Desktop Support Analysts to join their team for a six-month contract-to-hire engagement! This position is required to work onsite. This is a full-time position and is offering a full benefits package to include health, dental, and a 401k.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Loading specified software packages, such as operating systems, word processing or spreadsheet programs into computers entering commands and observing system functions to verify correct system operation
• Performing basic network administration tasks including: password maintenance, drive mapping, wired/wireless interface configuration, disk imaging, folder creation and rights management
• Participating in the implementation of upgrades to division standard software, instructs end users in basic use of hardware and software
• Answering inquiries concerning basic hardware and software operation and functionality
• Applying analytic ability in determining the cause of malfunctions and errors involving desktop hardware and software; judgment involves analyzing problems and determining the possible cause of the problem(s) observed; through process of elimination, narrows down possibilities to hardware/software causes and contributing factors; once having identified the problem, implements solution and restores functionality
• Performing routine audits of system resources and physical inventory of IT assets to ensure accuracy and accountability
• Researching, evaluating and recommending hardware and/or software for implementation in response to specified business needs
• Supporting and maintaining desktop and network operating systems, commercial software applications as well as business/industry-specific proprietary software applications
• Establishing and maintaining IT security, network and data integrity

Qualifications

Experience Required

• Minimum of three (3) years as a desktop support/help desk support staff member with extensive hardware and software maintenance, support and troubleshooting responsibilities in a networked environment; extensive customer/end-user interaction
• Substantial technical knowledge and skill in the execution/implementation of various IT projects and initiatives; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey technical information to technical and non-technical audiences; strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in a team environment; must possess a detailed understanding of automated systems hardware and software, best-practice policies & procedures

Desired Experience

• Familiarity with Utility-specific billing, SCADA and GIS automation technologies
• Experience working with Microsoft ASP, .NET and web-enabled software applications
• Experience with Android and iOS operating systems
