Overview

Elderwood Administrative Services has a new opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist to join our Corporate Team!

The Purchasing Specialist will provide purchasing related (including systems) training to facility staff, lead the contract renewal and new contract process with site leadership and purchasing staff, maintain contract records; review and approval requisitions, and look to streamline/improve current processes, procedures, and policies

Responsibilities

(Purchasing Specialist)

  • Provide training, education, and orientation for all facility new hires as it relates to the purchasing system software and processes. Be familiar with the many areas of purchasing/leasing at Elderwood: Medical Surgical Supply fulfillment, Contracted Services fulfillment, Dietary, Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc.
  • Contracts - responsible for
    • Managing facility service contracts (new and renewals) with the facility purchasing staff and leaders to increase the value of the contract, minimize cost, and meet quality standards. The incumbent may directly contact customers and vendors with questions on pricing, quotations, deliver, units of measure and specifications or ask facility purchasing to do so for clarification; consolidating contracts as needed.
    • Leading the review, negotiation, and determine the value of lease contracts for services provided to facilities.
    • Maintaining a contract workbook, containing purchase orders, and other records associated with the contract.
  • Requisition Approval - review requisitions for accuracy, quote verification(s) and approving the vendor. This includes leading the review, negotiation, and determining the value of purchase contracts for pieces of capital equipment.
  • Process Improvement: Generate and develop ideas, which improve efficiencies within the Purchasing department and streamline efforts across the Elderwood footprint. 
  • Attend staff meetings and required or preferred in-service training.

Job Expectations

  • Utilize electronic timekeeping system as directed.
  • Arrive to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled.
  • Recognize and follow the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
  • Follow policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.

  • Abides by Elderwood’s businesses code of conduct, compliance, and HIPAA policies.

  • High School diploma and/or Associates degree
  • Three to six years of purchasing experience required
  • Experience with medical surgical supply fulfillment, contracted services fulfillment, Dietary, Housekeeping, Maintenance, other, is preferred
  • Knowledge of Elderwood’s Purchasing computerized/online systems and processes, preferred

$22.40 - $33.60 / hour
