About This Career Opportunity

The Community Relations Director (CRD for the Villa San Mateo is responsible for the intentional relationship-building with the internal resident community and the external broader community. The CRD shall ensure that programs meet ECA standards, goals and mission. Responsibilities include:

Through research and ongoing relationships, identifies growth opportunities for further exploration and analysis. 

Develops partnerships with other organizations that help meet the needs of our residents or develops new service lines if the driving need is unmet in the local area.

Explores new methods of collaborating with other health care, government organizations, non-profits, and senior services providers to deliver products and services in non-traditional ways.

Acts as an Ambassador for ECA and VSM and serves on county boards, or attends county meetings that affect seniors in the local area. Looks for ways to impact local government, municipalities, and other civic projects to further the ECA value of erasing boundaries and transforming lives.

Creation, development, and operation of an innovation lab: establish tech demos, pilot, and links community and geographic area to universities and research. The goal is to affect how others view aging and how future services and/or equipment are built for a senior population. Works closely with the VP of Strategy and Business Development.

Renting out event and common space, coordinating services, and creating a quality experience for each client. 

Works with Executive Director on special projects, does outreach in the community to build relationships with stakeholders and community partners. Other duties as needed.

Are You Qualified?

Here's what you need:

  • Four-year degree in business, marketing, or other related field. Five to ten years’ experience in senior living, long term care or health care, including 3 years of previous business development or strategy experience
  • Criminal record clearance prior to presence in facility. TB test results and health screening not older than 6 months. 
  • Reliable and available transportation, including a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours, weekends, holidays and severe weather situations when necessary.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to exercise good judgment, confidentiality, initiative, and creativity to meet monthly deadlines. 

  • Must be able to function well in a highly service orientated environment servicing older adults and their families and have outstanding verbal communication and listening skills.

  • Must be able to function as a team player by sharing knowledge, maintaining work commitments, and cooperating in timelines with others. 

  • Must have good communication skills and respect work styles and time of others. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 

  • Able to communicate effectively in English.
