Eichleay, Inc. is Hiring a Process Engineer Near Ferndale, WA

We are seeking an early career Process Engineer to join our process engineering team at Eichleay. In this position, you will report into a Process Team Lead and will be based out of our office in Ferndale, WA or from a home office (within 50 miles). This is a full time position with benefits that will require in person interactions, including weekly visits to a local client site. As a Process Engineer at Eichleay, you will work in a collaborative multi-discipline environment, supporting various clients and projects.

Compensation: $95,000 - $105,000 (estimated annual salary)

Your duties will include performing process simulations/studies, heat and material balances, development of process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagram/drawings (P&ID), equipment sizing calculations, hydraulics and line sizing, equipment data sheets/specifications, utility requirements/systems analysis, relief contingency analysis and pressure safety valve (PSV) sizing, and compilation of process engineering reports.

Job Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Ability to apply knowledge of Chemical Engineering principles to complete process engineering tasks under the supervision of a Lead Engineer.
  • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental issues. Addresses those issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
  • Effectively interacts with all levels of employees, clients, and vendors.
  • Support other engineering disciplines with process related data.
  • Review project scope packages and identify potential impact to PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, equipment drawings, data sheets, isometrics, and relief systems.
  • Check vendor submittals against technical specifications.
  • Support hazard reviews (HAZOP, PHA) as a participant and/or preparing documents for review. Assist Lead Engineer with HAZOP item resolution.
  • Simultaneously work on several projects of small to moderate scope with complex features. Projects may involve separate clients and site standards.
  • Consistently achieves goals, delivers high quality and accurate work, and meets deadlines. This includes reviewing project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Develop process data sheets for stationary and rotating equipment including pressure vessels, tanks, separators, filters, heat transfer equipment, pumps, and compressors.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations for piping systems.
  • Develop and update PFDs, P&IDs, and heat and material balances.
  • Evaluate equipment overpressure scenarios and relief systems, including PSV sizing following applicable client standards, API 520 Part I/II, and API 521.
  • Ability to work effectively in a schedule driven environment where timing is a critical function.
  • Strong customer focus with commitment to building enduring relationships that yield customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Ability to deal with change and demonstrate flexibility as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Chemical Engineering (BSChE) from an ABET accredited program and a minimum of thee years of experience in hydrocarbon refining processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Chemical Engineering principles to complete process engineering tasks under the supervision of a Lead Engineer.
  • Experience performing sizing calculations and developing process data sheets for stationary and rotating equipment including pressure vessels, tanks, separators, filters, heat transfer equipment, pumps, and compressors.
  • Experience performing relief system analysis and sizing relief valves.
  • Knowledge of API, ASME and ANSI standards.
  • Simulation experience using HYSYS, PRO/II, PetroSIM, AFT Fathom or other comparable process simulation software.
  • Understanding of refinery plant unit operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued learning and education through participation in internal and/or external training opportunities.
  • Ability to be badged for process safety management governed facilities, which require in depth drug screening and a government issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Ability to support local refinery projects by traveling to site and working from site as necessary on a weekly basis.

Preferred Requirements/Skills:

  • Process engineering experience in refining process, operations, or design is preferred.
