As a key member of the operations team, the Second Shift Distribution Supervisor is responsible for leading the team to enter product into inventory, distribute and move product to alternate warehouses as directed, and organize the warehouse to ensure quick and efficient order fulfillment.

Essential Functions of the Role

Duties and Responsibilities

“Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Responsible for leading the first shift team to perform the opening tasks.
  • Lead the Put Away Team to store product on appropriate shelves in the warehouse.
  • Manage internal product transfers to other company distribution centers as appropriate with regard to customer demand and as assigned by the Distribution Manager.
  • Collaborate with other departments to expedite or trace missing or delayed shipments.
  • Lead the team to conduct cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory numbers.
  • Analyze existing receiving and put away processes and propose improvements and new methods to control costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure products are available and stored when and where they are needed to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Lead team in a manner that promotes individual development of each member.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement through the practice of Lean principles
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of warehouse strategies, processes, and schematics that accounts for product flow, equipment, product handling, and information systems.
  • Manages labor hours, including overtime, according to budget. Communicates needs to manager.
  • Manages team attendance according to the policy.
  • Lead team through coaching and counseling employees under their supervision.

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Above average computer skills (MS word, excel, outlook) experience in a warehouse management system a plus.

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to earn credibility across the organization.
  • Basic skills and understanding of business and math computations.
  • Work may require irregular hours, and occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

Individuals must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Requires walking primarily on a level surface for extended periods of time throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to pull/pack or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Physical environment that is subject to temperature extremes, movement of mobile and fixed equipment, and other conditions associated with a warehouse operation.
