Job Responsibilities

• Works as part of an instructional team to plan develop, implement and assess English courses consistent with district approved curriculum and state standards.
• Possesses strong academic background in teaching of English.
• Able to use a variety of instructional strategies and methods to ensure high levels of student academic achievement.
• Able to promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude and establish an environment that supports high achievement in students.
• Uses positive and productive techniques for improving student behavior and manages classroom efficiently.
• Uses technology appropriately as part of the classroom management environment and integrates technology into student learning activities. Familiarity with SmartBoard technology preferred, not required.
• Reports regularly to parents using a variety of strategies and is responsive to parental concerns.
• Show evidence of adequate planning and preparation while maintaining an organized classroom conducive to learning.
• Ability to focus students' attention on lesson while clearly stating objectives.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to maintain accurate and complete records and forms.
• Enforces school rules, manages student behavior, and maintains accurate records of student attendance, conduct and academic performance.
• Actively participates as a team member in faculty, staff and administration trainings and workshops to improve educational practice.
• Is enthusiastic flexible and committed to students reaching high learning goals.
• Uses computers proficiently for the production of documents, research, grading, and the keeping of student records.
• Familiarity with Skyward SIS, SmartBoard, and Google Classroom preferred, not required.
