EDF Renewables North America is Hiring a Remote Scrum Master [Remote]

Scope of Position

The Scrum Master is responsible for establishing or reinforcing the Scrum Theory and Values as defined in the Scrum Guide. They do this through personal demonstration, clear communication, and training both within the Scrum Team(s) and the organization. The Scrum Master maintains a relentless focus on continuous improvement of the Scrum Team’s effectiveness and impact on the entire organization. They do this by enabling the Scrum Team to improve its collaboration, organization, practices, and knowledge of end-to-end success.

Put simply, Scrum Masters are the go-to person for applying scrum are true leaders who directly support the Scrum Team and the larger organization.

Responsibilities

90% - Working with teams to deliver value

  • Helping the Scrum Team focus on creating high-value Increments that meet the Definition of Done
  • Helping Product Owners find techniques for effective Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management
  • Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items
  • Causing the removal of impediments to the Scrum Team’s progress and barriers between stakeholders and the Scrum Team(s)
  • Ensuring that all Scrum events take place and are positive, productive, and kept within the timebox
  • Helping Product Owners establish empirical product planning for a complex environment
  • Facilitating Scrum Events and stakeholder collaboration as requested or needed
  • Supporting EDF Renewables, Inc by leading, training, and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption
  • Planning and advising Scrum implementations within the organization
  • Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact an empirical approach for complex work
  • Working with other Scrum Master and Agile Coaches (Agile Community of Practice) to advance the whole organization

10% - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience-

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on IT or Business disciplines or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 years of technical and/or business-related experience.
  • Strong Preference for Professional certification in change management and/or adaptive frameworks (Scrum, Prosci, LeSS, XP, S@S, Kotter, LSS, Kanban, DevOps, etc.)
  • Preferred experience demonstrating user-centered design principles or practices through Product Design, Service Design, User Experience, and/ or Innovation.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities –

  • Strong interpersonal skills - capable of building relationships, a good listener with outstanding interpersonal influencing qualities and a naturally consultative style; builds positive relationships with others including collaborating, and team building; and demonstrates active listening and practices open, honest, and direct communication
  • Possesses good written/oral communications skills, stays open-minded, and proactively keeps communication going to move initiatives forward
  • Strong passion for helping the company succeed and doing what it takes to help drive company initiatives forward; has the courage to talk straight and ask tough questions; open to and accepts of change, adapting to our evolving business; proactively raises challenges and identifies solutions
  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and criteria for obtaining results
  • Able to deal effectively with tactical and operational details
  • Ability to proactively identify risks, and drive action to mitigate and resolve issues
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a vast array of information
  • Experience leading Scrum Events including sprint planning, Sprint Retrospective, Sprint Reviews, and Daily Scrum sessions.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Suite, Virtual SaaS Collaboration tools, and Workflow management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps

Physical Requirements -

  • Ability to view video display terminal images < 18” away from the face for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.

Working Conditions:90% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 10% of the time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or internal customers’ sites in addition to attending various conferences and meetings.

Supervision of Others:This position will not have any direct reports but will need to lead cross-functional teams with non-positional authority.
