Echodyne is Hiring a Data Engineer I Near Kirkland, WA

Echodyne is seeking a Data Engineer with expertise in Postgres to join its team working in a fast-paced startup environment building next generation radar platforms. At Echodyne we emphasize continual improvement of our products and test data is essential to identifying performance shortcomings and improvement opportunities. This role will directly contribute to this ongoing effort by helping to build, maintain, improve, and use our radar-data database systems in a variety of ways. The ideal candidate will thrive in an interactive close-knit team and have the drive and experience to complete projects independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with other team members including radar engineers, field test engineers, data engineers, and data analysts to understand the needs and use of our database systems.
  • Improve our databases, the ETL process and tools, database access tools, and webpages.
  • Perform data cleaning, formatting, transformation, and loading into our databases.
  • When non-standard format radar data is generated by customers and our own in-house testing, problem-solve how to properly transform it so that it can be made available in a usable format to data analysts.

Required skills / experience:

  • Experience designing and building database applications.
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, Postgres, and Git.
  • Familiarity with good code structure, maintainability, documentation, and source control
  • Good written and verbal communicator and a team-worker.
  • Able to independently scope work efforts, manage priorities, and identify ‘good-enough solutions’ to meet deadlines.

Desired skills / experience (compliment to the required core skills):

  • Good spatial reasoning ability will be beneficial for this role because radar data is (at least!) three dimensional. Some skill in 3D geometry (vectors, rotations, simple linear algebra) will be helpful.
  • Basic Matlab knowledge would be a plus.
  • There are opportunities for a “full-stack” developer to do some web development to improve our internal data websites.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in computer science or engineering, data engineering, data science, etc.
  • Eligibility to handle export controlled data (ITAR, EAR).
