Operations Manager

Job Description 

Urban Acres Produce (UAP) is an LLC of the Central Baptist Community Development Corporation (CBCDC) 501(c)3 in the City of Wilmington, Delaware. With a mission to improve access to fresh food for people on the Eastside of Wilmington, UAP has spent the more than 10 years distributing and selling fresh foods to low-access neighborhoods by way of farm stands and home delivery. Currently, UAP is working to develop an online ordering platform that enhances home delivery service and adds financial sustainability to the program. UAP seeks an Operations Manager to oversee UAP facilities and vehicles and ensure orders are fulfilled by high quality and food safety standards. 

The Operations Manager (OM) of Urban Acres Produce LLC will be excited to be an integral part  of UAP’s mission for increasing fresh food equity and access to low-access Wilmington neighborhoods. The OM will be a strong communicator to manage staff and ensure everyone has the information and resources needed to complete tasks. The OM will know how to maintain a safe and efficient work environment that delivers quality fresh food to customers.  

Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

• Maintain all equipment and vehicles to ensure working order
• Manage staff of order packers and delivery drivers
• Make schedules for order fulfillment and partner programs
• Work with the Director and Produce Manager to maintain quality control of inventory
• Work with the Director to create Standards and Operating Procedures and implement
• Communicate effectively with the team for optimal service delivery
• Relay information to necessary departments 
• Assist with packing, delivery, and order communication 
• Assist with inventory aggregation and distribution as needed

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years experience in a food or retail distribution or related  industry
• Minimum 2 years of people management experience
• Computer skills, including familiarity with Google Suite and Excel
• Food safety, OSHA, or other safety-related certification is a plus or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Interest in fresh food security and community empowerment
• Experience with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is a plus
• Problem-solving skills are essential
• Valid Driver's License
