Overview

The Commercial Banking Management Trainee will work to understand Commercial Banking operations and procedures by performing assigned projects and responsibilities throughout various Commercial Banking departments as well as focus on the understanding of credit risk. This position is best suited for candidates who want to gain valuable commercial banking experience. To succeed in this role, strong analytical skills and effective communication are important management trainee qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements of all levels of quality to develop an evaluation of projections, such as income growth, quality of management, and market share to determine expected profitability of loan and credit risk involved for the bank.
• Conduct joint client facing site visits with Relationship Managers with existing customers and prospects, as directed by the Team Leaders/ Relationship Managers.
• Develop knowledge of the EWB banking products and how they can be used by our commercial customers; identify potential cross sale opportunities.
• Develop and understand a working knowledge of the Bank’s credit policy.
• Partner with the Relationship Managers as a point of contact for the clients, acting as a liaison to the Credit department.
• Active participation in demonstrating the behaviors outlined in the EWB Experience.
• Prepare and present feedback written reports to the program representative on each phase of training.
• Complete quarterly presentations and annual performance reviews.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, Masters or above preferred; Majored in business related field, such as Finance/Accounting is preferred.
• Basic understanding of credit policy and procedures; previous credit analysis or Commercial Banking experience is a plus.
• Understanding of economic principles with strong desire to expand knowledge of the banking industry.
• Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective listening skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient in mandarin Chinese is preferred.
