JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

East Side House (ESH) is a community-based organization in the South Bronx. ESH collaborates with schools, community centers, and other partners to provide quality education and resources to residents of the South Bronx and surrounding communities.

The IT Manager is responsible for the management of IT operations and coordination of IT services and initiatives to drive program operations, and enhance East Side House, Inc.’s IT infrastructure. The IT Manager will collaborate with ESH leadership to plan and execute actions to enhance IT operations, meet customers’ needs as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical and software solutions.

The IT Manager is responsible for managing the organization’s information technology resources and leading the IT staff responsible for operating and supporting the IT systems. By partnering with leaders and vendors, the IT Manager will maintain and develop effective, efficient and secure technology systems.

Duties, Deliverables & Desired Outcomes

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the incumbent will:

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day IT operations, projects, and services to support ESH’s mission and strategic goals, and leading a team of 4 IT professionals
  • Plans and directs the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes.
  • Analyzes organization’s current and future IT needs, and propose and implement best practices/solutions
  • Ensures the consistency and sustainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standard procedures for managing and gaging effectiveness of technical solutions.
  • Directs and manages the workload of direct reports, and collaborates with external vendors and consultants to ensure IT services/solutions are efficient and of quality
  • Maintains and monitors the Wide Area Network (WAN) connection; using virus protection software, daily backup procedures, and other tools, safeguards the entire LAN system, as well as the Company's documents and records.
  • Establish business relationships; tracks warranties and service agreements, renews or extends when necessary, or recommends termination
  • Manages departmental budget and presents proposals for capital projects to senior leadership.
  • Evaluates, researches, and keeps the network infrastructure up to date; recommends new products and solutions.
  • Provides technical supports and guidance to direct staff, and users’ agency wide.
  • Orchestrates and/or participates in sets-ups, configurations, imaging, technology roll-outs, installations, maintenance and repairs pertaining to network, hardware, software, etc.
  • Maintain a general working knowledge of all applications and in-house enhancements and databases; perform testing and modifications as organizational and operational needs dictates
  • Responsible for knowing programming and query tools; managing databases for optimum performance; and developing and adhering to procedures for control of programs and documentation.
  • Responsible for developing and adhering to security procedures for user access to forms and tables.
  • Monitors and assess network and system’s performance to ensure optimum output
  • Diagnoses and fixes problems or potential problems with the network and its hardware, software and systems.
  • Administers servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, desk phone, cell phone, software, and auxiliary devices and/or systems
  • Identifies users’ technology gaps; partners with leader(s) to design and presents technology workshops to close gaps and enhance users’ knowledge and abilities
  • Conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultant and/or replacement personnel.
  • Manages and recommends enhancements to company’s web sites and databases and systems.
  • Serve as a resource in developing direct reports’ knowledge, abilities and skills; evaluate performance/productivity and take corrective actions to improve performance
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requisite Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree pertaining to Information Technology, or related field and 4 years IT experience
    OR
  • Associate’s Degree pertaining to Information Technology and 6 years of experience in the field or related field
  • Computer Networking Certification (CAN) and/or other relevant Networking Certifications
  • At least 4 years of strong hands-on Networking, Hardware and Software experience in fast paced, service oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Servers, Microsoft Azure Infrastructure, MS Teams Voice, Hyper-V Infrastructure, Backup and Disaster Recovery, Firewalls, and Managed switches.
  • Knowledge of web site management, database management and reporting preferred

Required Clearances

  • COVID Vaccine- As a recipient of Federal, State, and local funds, all staff are expected to be fully vaccinated or able to obtain vaccination before their start date

Supervisory Responsibility

Directs an IT System Administrator, IT Network Technician, and an IT Coordinator

Work Environment

Business casual. This job operates in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc

Travel

Travel is primarily locally during the business day to some of the organization’s program. May need to travel for special events, or to DOE public Schools in Bronx area for projects, inspect work scope, etc.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is generally a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work days/hours subject to change based on ESH’s needs.
