East Atlanta Eye Surgery Center is Hiring an Operating Room RN Near Lawrenceville, GA

Position Summary

Busy Ophthalmic Surgical Ambulatory Surgery Center in Lawrenceville, GA seeking a diversified Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our team-oriented, patient focused ASC - 2 OR Suites / 3 bay Pre-op / 3 bay Recovery.

From routine preventative care to surgical repair and cosmetic procedures, the physicians at East Atlanta Eye Surgery Center have the training and experience to help you achieve your optimal vision. Our surgery center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to perform a wide range of corrective procedures, including breakthrough bladeless laser cataract surgery.

No Holidays, No weekends, No Call, No Nights

The schedule for this position is Monday though Thursday varying days, no nights weekends, starting at 6:00am

Responsibilities

Functions under the general supervision and direction of the Nurse Manager to provide planned, skilled nursing care for patients in the operating room in accordance with established policy and philosophy. Assists surgeons in the operation theatre. The operating room nurse hands the doctors all the equipment they require in the surgery. The tools used must be cleaned and sterilized before the operation by the nurse. The nurse double checks before the operation whether all the required equipment is present or not. They also to prepare the patients before the operation. Participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, and skills of personnel as directed and needed.

  • Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures
  • Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care
  • Participates in data collection activities to support the performance-improvement program

6. Safety/Risk-management program

  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities
  • Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure noncompliance to safety officer or other designated person

7. Professional competence

  • Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences
  • Shares knowledge gained in continuing education with staff
  • Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations
  • Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities

8. Duties

  • Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel with the management of the surgery center
  • Organizes nursing activities efficiently, considering staff abilities 
  • Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
  • Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
  • Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the operative area
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of operative area
  • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient
  • Assesses and documents the patient’s physical and emotional status 
  • Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered
  • Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and promotes privacy and dignity
  • Other duties as requested by surgery center leadership

9. Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians

10. Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public

11. Ability to make decisions and solve problems

Qualifications

Required

  • High school graduate or GED certificate recipient
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • RN with active license in the state of Georgia
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Evidence of leadership qualities
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English

Preferred

  • 3 yrs RN experience in outpatient or ASC setting
  • Computer literacy
