Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in developing measures and practices that prevent accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA standards, to include:

• Continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions. 
• Ensure safety and health hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded. 
• Assess engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE on an on-going basis 

• Ensures managers and supervisors have the appropriate safety and health; accident prevention; and investigation training. 
• Responsible to stop and prevent unsafe actions including the use of unsafe equipment and tools. 
• Ensure the results of safety inspections are documented; monitor the investigation of accidents and injuries; ensuring that corrective actions are taken; and providing recommendations for ways to prevent similar accidents. 
• Investigate all close calls and other safety-related incidents that have occurred within the accident area. 
• Ensure that all accident reports are recorded in a timely, complete, and accurate manner. 
• Create and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). 
• Develop and implement training for managers/supervisors and all employees in worksite safety practices. 
• Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures, where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. 
• Responsible for the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs. 
• Maintains safety files and records. 
• Perform all other job duties as required. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety) or equivalent EHS experience 

• Minimum 5-10 years related experience 
• Required experience with OSHA regulatory requirements
