The Role in Brief:

Legal and Business Affairs Support Associate Specialist

As an integral team member, the Associate Specialist will gain experience in working with the fast-paced Legal and Business Affairs team, which oversees the drafting, negotiating, and monitoring of contracts with partners and vendors, ensures the Company’s compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements, and aids the Company with legal and business affairs issues in general. The Associate Specialist will advise and support the members of the Legal department with corporate housekeeping, compliance, and contracts.

This role is based in Washington, D.C. or Richmond, VA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor intake of requests for Legal and Business Affairs support, triage and assign new matters within the team and generate reports based on intake metrics
  • Maintain corporate books and records
  • Manage corporate organization matters and perform paralegal duties, as assigned
  • Draft and negotiate various types of contracts under the direction of one or more attorneys or contracts professionals
  • Draft, file, and track the Company’s regulatory compliance functions in compliance with various local, state, and federal regulations
  • Monitor and manage key components of the Company’s privacy program
  • Aid customer-driven vendor requirements and processes
  • Assist team with tracking key performance metrics
  • Assist team in the formulation and deployment of process improvements related to the provision of legal services
  • Independently manage and execute on special projects, as necessary and appropriate, regarding compliance and business/legal processes and initiatives
  • Manage additional duties as needed 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum 1 years’ work experience
  • Excellent academic record
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Attention to detail

  • Prior administrative or customer service experience
  • Self-starter who also knows when to ask questions
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Ability to take initiative on projects
  • Demonstrated success in an entrepreneurial operating environment
