POSITION SUMMARY:

Medical Laboratory Technologists perform complex tests and procedures that help physicians detect, diagnose, and treat diseases

Typical Work Schedule: Varies; Nights and Weekends required.

Compensation: $D.O.E./Hourly Benefits and Paid Time Off

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

· Demonstrate competency in laboratory procedures within the scope of practice. Provide all aspects of diagnostic laboratory procedures based on established standards. Perform testing in a timely manner and ensure department staff adhere to established turnaround time goals.

· Completes assigned policy and procedure review assignments in a timely manner. Maintains current knowledge of AABB, CAP, State of Florida, and Federal regulatory requirements for the clinical laboratory. Complies with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Participates in proficiency testing program as assigned. Ensures that proficiency testing deadlines are met and samples are analyzed in the same manner as patient samples.

· Performs all assigned preventative maintenance, calibration, and quality control testing as scheduled, to include appropriate documentation and review.

· Ability to handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely.

· Troubleshoots and documents analyzer problems. Informs onsite lab supervisor of anticipated delays due to extended downtime.

· Proudly services the company by following all HIPAA, JCAHO, state, and federal laws and standards.

· In addition to the major duties and responsibilities listed above, this position will be responsible for special projects and assignments on an as needed basis.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

· Associate Degree; Bachelor Degree preferred OR

· Science degree meeting state licensure requirements (64B3-5.003).

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· State of Florida - Technologist License.

• Clinical Supervisor Certification a plus

EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum two years’ experience

· Core Areas: Microbiology, Serology, Molecular Pathology, Hematology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

· Physical demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand for full shift; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

· Work environment: A/C work area, the noise level is usually moderate.
