Program Coordinator
Occupational Summary:
Duke University's Master of Engineering in Financial Technology (FinTech) program has become one of the strongest programs of its kind globally. This program attracts some of the best and brightest students from universities and industry around the world.
The Program Coordinator will provide support for the FinTech program within the Institute for Enterprise Engineering. This position reports to the Program Director. The Program Coordinator will plan, coordinate, manage and administer activities related to program, faculty, and student support.
This position is onsite 5 days a week.
Work Performed:
Program support (50%)
  • Monitor, track, and ensure student compliance with academic requirements, deadlines, graduation requirement, etc. and report program progress to relevant entity.
  • Develop, administer, and assess evaluations and surveys and recommend and implement modifications to monitor or improve program effectiveness.
  • Coordinate arrangements for programs functions such as orientation, graduation, seminar, residencies, and professional development. Responsibilities may include overseeing event coordination, inviting appropriate speakers or other participants, arranging schedules, facilities, publicity and ensuring necessary financial arrangements.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate systems designed to maintain master's program information, such as listservs, alumni database, master's program web page, and internal Duke site page, Pratt Professional Masters Bulletin; prepare and submit course requests to EFC and Registrar's office for approval.
  • Work with other programs and schools at Duke to establish procedures for registering for courses and facilitating registration.
  • Create expense reports and submit on a timely basis for department functions.
Faculty Support (20%)
  • Communicate with faculty regarding teaching assignment, course scheduling, course materials, course enrollment, classroom needs and availability, faculty parking, faculty advisor training, grade policies, and other faculty related matters; work with students and faculty to resolve schedule conflicts, monitor and manage the wait lists.
  • Assist faculty and staff in hiring and supporting TA's
  • Support faculty course delivery by setting up SAKAI/Canvas sites, purchasing instructional materials, and liaison with bookstore point person.
Student Support (20%)
  • Act as the first point of contact for students in the master's program and as the interface between the program, the students and the Director of master's Study (DMS).
  • Provide a wide range of student services including but not limited to; assisting students with understanding program requirements, supporting students through the course registration process, helping students understand their student account balance, supporting students in need, helping students navigate the wide array of Duke requirements and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the DMS to develop and implement events and activities to support program objectives and develop community.
General (10%)
  • Maintain Masters Coordinator Manual, this documents standard operating procedures for the position.
  • Collaborate with other program coordinators for shared activities including course scheduling with the Registrar, managing shared resources (parking), student surveys, bookstore liaison, Fuqua course registration, etc.
  • Other tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires one year of experience in program administration or OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.
