Description

LOCATION The position is based at DrinkPAK's headquarters in Santa Clarita, California.

TEAM The Process Manager will report to the General Manager/Plant Director

POSITION As the Process Manager you will be responsible for managing daily operations of the batching area; ensuring the area meets established safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements from raw material receiving, through blending & batching to the UHT, Aseptic tanks, Aseptic filler and packaging.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and directs activities of the batching department, ensuring product adheres to DrinkPAK’s & customer’s standards of safety, quality, and meeting production schedules
  • Attends daily production meeting with the production, supply chain, quality and maintenance department leaders to discuss prior day’s performance, review upcoming production schedule and establish and adjust work procedures and schedules to meet production schedule
  • Develops, trains and ensures team members follow all SOP’s in compliance with batching principles, and, adhere to all requirements to protect the sterility & integrity of the process and product
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure all materials are in compliance with inventory standards
  • Ensures all team members are trained and work in compliance with all applicable standard work practices, regulatory requirements, GMP’s, HACCP and SQF expectations
  • Maintains quality standards of all products to ensure food safety and quality
  • Maintains effective working relationships with team members through open communication, visibility, and involvement to promote a positive working environment that maximizes safety, employee engagement, productivity, and performance
  • Provides direction to supervisors on team member coaching and development, employment decisions, and resolving issues through conflict resolution. Hires, trains, coaches and reviews performance of team members and supervisors. Partners with the Human Resources department for recruitment, corrective actions, and terminations.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to plan preventative maintenance on the production lines
  • Analyzes reports for batching yields, system processes, attendance, overtime and quality checks
  • Collaborates with the leadership to develop the Batching department goals and forecast
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production batching methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, and to reduce raw material/product shrink
  • Develops capital equipment justification for machine upgrades and process technology to improve quality, cost, and batching throughput
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of employees
  • Collaborates with Maintenance and plant leadership on process improvements.
  • Interfaces with multiple departments within the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met
  • Collaborates with the warehouse and supply chain teams to ensure correct inventories based on production schedules. Escalates supplier quality issues to prevent customer shortages.
  • Partners with the Quality Department to prevent and resolve Non-Conforming Finished Goods and Non-Conforming Raw Materials.
  • Partners with the Quality Department on customer complaint resolution and CAPA.
  • Collaborates with plant leadership and supervisors to champion a world-class safety culture
  • Drive Root-Cause Analysis to resolve issues and create sustainable improvements
  • Manage highly automated, complex manufacturing processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Promote and encourage safe working practices
  • Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Business Administration or related discipline required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Technical background/education preferred
  • 6-8 years of experience in batching leadership in food & beverage manufacturing
  • SQF, HAACP, GMP, OSHA Aseptic certifications preferred
  • Understanding of aseptic production processes and controls
  • Demonstrate functional and technical knowledge of the aseptic process
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and ability to lead by example
  • Clear experience initiating change and ability to utilize change management principles
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts when needed, holidays, and weekends required
  • Ability to multi-functionally work between departments

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 10-12 hours.
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
