Position Title Dr. John & Jean Marshall Wellness Center Rec Rep If part time, projected hours (per week) 10 Job Description
Rec Reps are responsible for assisting with the promotion and delivery of Marshall Wellness Center programs at Iowa Western. Within an assigned residence hall, assist residents with signing up teams, understanding registration processes and timelines, sharing program information and the like. These programs promote physical activity and social engagement and may include activities such as intramural sports, wellness workshops, fitness programs, recreational outings, and others. Rec Reps help housing students engage with campus events and help Wellness Center staff understand the recreational and fitness needs of the Housing unit.
Duties
* The Rec Rep's primary responsibility is to help students in housing be aware of, and connect to, Wellness Center programs and services.
* In collaboration with Wellness Center and Housing staffs, assist with the planning and execution of programs within assigned residence halls.
* Help residents organize teams for intramural and recreational activities.
* Direct all marketing of Wellness Center materials within assigned hall.
* Create and deliver promotional events within the assigned hall.
* Communicate effectively with supervisor(s) and residents.
* Commit to a team-oriented, collaborative work environment.
Campus Location Council Bluffs Required Qualifications
Must be a currently enrolled student living in a campus housing unit.
Preferred Work Experience:
* Previous customer service experience
* Experience in a recreation/fitness environment
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone and other basic office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use a phone. Occasional lifting of 10 lbs., reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, and a high degree of problem solving and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
