DPR GP is Hiring a Workforce Development Manager Near Phoenix, AZ
Job Description Position Description: DPR is seeking a project Workforce Development Manager to provide local leadership, planning, coordination, and on-site implementation of workforce development initiatives and programs to develop construction career pathways for those entering the industry. This individual will operate within a nationwide program of projects with other concurrently planned and executed workforce develop initiatives. This role reports directly to the program leadership team as well as on-site project leaders. This role will work collaboratively across the organization with cross-functional groups such as Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Communications and Branding, Learning and Development, Community Initiatives, and Global Social Responsibility to develop and implement a successful project-level workforce develop program the meets DPR and Client objectives. The role will coordinate external stakeholder participation from the Client, contractors, trade partners, educational providers, and community assistance organizations to ensure adequate resourcing and strategic alignment within the program. Key job responsibilities for Workforce Development Position: Catalyst and conductor for project-specific Workforce Development Programs; must possess knowledge of local agencies and educational institutions that provide relevant, coordinated workforce training Identify and create Workforce Development processes and systems to meet specific project workforce goals Responsible for organizing and implementing Workforce Development programs and activities Accountable for overseeing project-specific workforce functions and communicating progress to goals effectively with DPR leadership, Client representatives, and other stakeholders. Responsible for developing key relationships with local Workforce Agencies, Trades Organizations, Subcontractors Community-Based Organizations, Political and Educational institutes to establish key partnerships for Workforce Development programs Responsible for preparing and executing report-out functions for workforce-related initiatives; Reports include providing status updates, results reporting and other communication/ planning activities for workforce management Partner with local and regional community workforce leaders to proactively identify opportunities in Construction and Building trades; workforce management, including development of workforce partnerships, training programs and appropriate recruiting strategies to impact workforce pipeline for construction and building trades Manage workforce projects and provide industry research, expertise, benchmarking and identifying industry best practice workforce models Work entails a high degree of autonomy and influence on Workforce initiatives Responsible for maintaining relationships with subcontractors to provide continued workforce assistance for project goals. Specific to this project: In conjunction with project team and subcontractors, identify local career paths associated with ongoing projects Work with community and partners to find individuals interested in careers in construction who are not currently employed in construction trades or project management. Develop relationships with local organizations that can provide a pool of qualified candidates. Work with potential candidates and with local organizations to close workforce skills gap to increase candidates’ marketability to project stakeholders Support and/or develop community outreach events to support local hiring and engagement of individuals not currently enjoying careers in construction and building trades industries. Collaborate with project team and subcontractors to fill initial career paths as outlined in Workforce Development Plan and Contract Scope Reviews Track all individuals actively engaged in the 100 career paths plan, provide advice and support on maintaining and growing a career within the construction and building trades industry Develop working relationships with all on-site employers to facilitate career paths in construction and building trades, including assisting individuals in moving between employers to maintain continuous employment; in harmony with all project stakeholders, optimize the number of local career paths facilitated. Qualifications: 5 years in workforce development, human resources, social work, non-profit organization planning, or related fields with demonstrated success Ability to build rapport and build good working relationships with key community leaders, partners, organizations, educational institutions, workforce development board members, guidance counselors, the client, and leaders within DPR Construction Exhibit high level of professionalism and impeccable integrity and confidentiality Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with executives Excellent people and customer service skills Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Adaptive and flexible with the ability to work through and clarify uncertainty and ambiguity Ability to work independently and as a team Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles Ability to lead a group of participants in a safe, organized manner Programming and excellent organization skills The ability to outline the scope of the program from its conception to the maintenance of the program to sustain its impact in the community Effectively research and analyze the local demographics, talent management strategies, cost reductions, and business outcomes from different subcontractors Additional Considerations: • Experience with labor relations a plus, not required. • Experience in construction a plus, not required. • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus, not required. • College degree in workforce development, human resources, social work, or education a plus, not required.
