As a Staff Accountant on our finance team in our New York office, you'll do everything from preparing royalty distributions for our clients to assisting in monthly close. You’ll be responsible for sending out daily reporting to various company stakeholders and will be expected to create and improve upon efficient processes. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with our royalties team and will work with the finance team to complete ad hoc requests.

You'll report to our Manager of Accounting Operations and will work closely with the rest of the Finance team.

We are looking for someone who is eager, inquisitive, and willing to learn about accounting in a unique and exciting industry. You should be interested in our industry and have a desire to learn about accounting for music publishing and distribution.

What you'll do: 

• Reconcile daily bank transaction to individual business within our accounting system
• Prepare daily deposit report for distribution to various company stakeholders
• Reconcile the receipt and communication of royalty revenues to our royalties team
• Complete various monthly close activities and prepare journal entries including monthly prepaid amortization, monthly revenue accruals, and various other close activities
• Work closely with the royalty team to reconcile the accounting records to the royalty tracking system
• Build monthly cash receipts reports for individual businesses to distribute to the appropriate internal stakeholders
• Deposit physical checks and record appropriately in our accounting system
• Create efficient processes around various accounting areas

You are / have: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, and Business or relevant prior accounting experience
• 1 years of experience working in accounting operations
• Intermediate to advance Excel skills (i.e. vlookup, index match, boolean functions, pivot tables)
• Comfortable coming into the office and working with the NYC team 2 days a week
• Numerically obsessed, highly meticulous, and organized
• Excited to provide support to our Finance team through various ad-hoc financial reports and special projects
• Can communicate financial information in a clear, professional manner
