Summary

This is a part-time position. This position that will provide research, analysis, writing, lead public meetings, and associated planning services primarily for airport transportation projects, but sometimes also support for road and surface projects, regional transportation plans and community planning, traffic engineering and transportation design projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following:

  • Provide planning services for airport projects and provide planning, project management and public involvement support for traffic engineering and transportation design projects.
  • Provide compliance management services, such as FAA and TSA parts 139/1542) to airport clients.
  • Serve as assistant project manager or task leader on some projects.
  • Conduct research, data collection, and transportation analysis.
  • Write, review, and edit planning documents.
  • Prepare for and lead project public meetings.
  • Conduct project marketing and responses to Requests for Proposals.
  • Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in all work tasks.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Baccalaureate degree and at least two years of college-level course work in transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation engineering, environmental sciences, community/land use planning, or a closely-related program. At least five years of work experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation engineering, or a related field. Traffic engineering experience is desired, but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to clients, co-workers, and the public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook software. CADD and GIS skills are helpful but not required.
