Overview

We are currently searching for a Biologist to perform single-cell multi-omics profiling of peripheral blood cells, keep detailed records and in general drive the project to completion. The individual will also perform basic cell culture, flow cytometry and microscopic studies as needed for progress of the project. Expertise in molecular biology and genomics methods (such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq etc.) and single-cell assays is required; additional experience in flow cytometry or microscopy will be added advantages. Evidence of strong communication, analytic and organizational skills is highly desirable. We seek goal-oriented individuals who wish to be challenged to probe fundamental questions about blood-brain crosstalk in elderly humans. This opportunity is full-time, and it is on site in Baltimore, MD.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Thaw and culture PBMCs from the BLSA repository, determine quality, quantity and viability
• Perform immunophenotyping and separation into CD4 and CD4- populations. Troubleshoot if necessary
• Prepare libraries for single-cell multiomics on the CD4 /- fractions. Troubleshoot if necessary
• Perform qualitative and quantitative assessments on the prepared libraries followed by next gen sequencing
• Program and use computers to store, process, and analyze data

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline
• At least 3-4 years of experience
• Experience in Biology or related field performing biological research functions in a research setting
• Demonstrates experience working in a laboratory environment
• Demonstrates knowledge of experience maintaining accurate and detailed records
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures
