Position Summary 

The Software QA Engineer creates tests that identify issues with software before a product launch. These tests entail other tasks such as developing automated tests, running a series of test suites, and reporting their results to stakeholders, who will collaborate to fix program bugs or problems. The primary responsibility of the QA Engineer is to prevent defects. In addition, they are responsible for identifying and eliminating any mistakes in code before its release to customers. 

Job duties and responsibilities 

• Develop standards, test suites and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness. 
• Drive innovation and streamline overall testing processes 
• Create test plans and document test cases. 
• Design and execute systems to check for issues and bugs using multiple technologies.
• Maintain and develop a Unit Testing suite using JavaScript with Jest framework to check the isolated, low-level functionality to find defects as quick as possible in new development. 
• Develop integration tests using Ruby with RSPEC, that verify the units of code perform together as expected using BDD principles. 
• Maintain a Functional test suite using JavaScript with Cypress framework for functional area testing and Ruby with Cucumber framework, and Selenium gem for End-to-End testing. 
• Perform manual testing focused on subset of functional tests designed to target device differences.
• Record test progress and results with the use Cucumber, RSPEC and gas_load_tester and other similar tools.
• Perform and document risk analysis.
• Identify, isolate, and track bugs throughout testing. 
• Identify any potential problems that users might encounter 
• Review user interfaces for consistency and functionality. 
• Research and analyze product features being tested. 
• Research new tools, technologies, and testing processes.

Work Arrangement Options

Donatos has identified this position is eligible for the following work arrangements: 

• Full-Time Onsite: The Associate in the position will work all regularly scheduled days onsite.
• Hybrid: The Associate in this position will work 3 regularly scheduled days onsite, 2 days off-site weekly. 
• Positions that are eligible for hybrid and/or remote work do not automatically qualify the Associate to perform in a hybrid or remote only work arrangement.

Minimum requirements 

Education 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related fields, or equivalent experience required.

Previous Experience 

• 7 years’ experience in software quality assurance.
• 5 years with hands on experience with automated testing tools including performance testing. 
• Proven work experience in software development. 
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, and processes. 
• Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases. 
• Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting 
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
