Dolese Delivers: Stable Foundation Treat with Respect Safe Environments Employee Focus JOB SUMMARY The Environmental Specialist is responsible for providing environmental support at aggregate quarries, sand and gravel plants, ready-mix concrete batch plants, and maintenance shops. This position works under moderate supervision and will work closely with operations personnel and government agencies to ensure environmental compliance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrate safe work habits and actively promote a safe workplace Research requirements of all rules and regulations concerning federal, state, and local environmental regulatory programs for Oklahoma and Texas in aggregate mining and ready-mix Provide technical support in the areas of environmental concern and compliance Prepare permit applications for submittal to state agencies for aggregate and ready-mix facilities Recognize and report environmental issues and matters of non-compliance to the Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Supervisor Train personnel and conduct plant site assessments at all company facilities to ensure compliance with environmental rules and regulations Prepare annual environmental reports for state and federal regulatory agencies Act as a liaison between the company, regulators, and the community in order to maintain good relationships Regular attendance at the worksite or assigned work location Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of environmental compliance experience required OR Associate’s degree in an environmental or related technical field and some environmental compliance experience required A combination of experience and/or education will be considered Knowledge, Skills & Abilities General knowledge of permitting requirements necessary for the mining and concrete industry in the following areas: Storm Water Quality Process Water Quality Air Quality Groundwater Fuel and Oil Storage Requirements Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) Reporting Requirements – SARA (Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act) Mining and Reclamation General knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and laws by ODEQ, OWRB, OCC, EPA, and corresponding local agencies Strong technical and mathematical skills Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization Ability to coordinate and interface with sometimes conflicting interest groups to achieve mutually satisfactory results Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently Ability to work collectively in a team environment with other coworkers and managers Ability to work independently with some guidance Ability to work outside normal business hours if necessary PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 50 lbs. of weight occasionally Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces EEO Statement: We consider applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetics, marital or protected veteran status.
