Job Description

Job Title: Repair Shop

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Summary: Perform maintenance on office structures, grounds, gates, fences, etc.

Also perform general repairs to RV units and commercial motor vehicle and commercial trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Include the following as well as other duties to be assigned.

  • Maintain buildings and grounds. This includes office structures, storage yards, lawns, gates, fences, etc. This includes preventative maintenance and basic repairs.
  • Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
  • Operates company machinery and equipment in a safe manor. Complies with all safety regulations.
  • Performs maintenance on equipment. This includes diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.
  • Perform maintenance and some repairs to commercial motor vehicles and commercial trailers.
  • Perform periodic annual DOT inspections for commercial motor vehicles and commercial trailers.
  • Inspect and repair damaged RV's.

Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Understands the inspection criteria set forth in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations part 393 and Appendix G and can identify defective components.
  • Has either worked in a commercial garage on commercial vehicles for a period of at least one year or has successfully completed another DOT inspection approved training program.
  • Understands and is capable of performing brake inspections and servicing of brakes on commercial vehicles.
  • Has successfully completed an apprenticeship program sponsored or approved by a state, Canadian Province, or Federal agency, labor union, or has a certificate from a state or Canadian Province which qualifies the person to perform brake service or inspections.
  • Has brake-related training or experience or a combination thereof totaling at least one year from a DOT approved program, or has worked at a commercial garage, fleet leasing company, or similar facility.
  • CDL A (not required but is helpful)
  • High School degree or G.E.D. - or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer Skills - Computer skills helpful

  • Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions. Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Including problem solving in a timely manner, individually as well as in groups.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Reports safety and security issues to upper management.
  • Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
