The nation's leading local health department seeks a .NET Developer to join its award-winning, innovative technology team in revolutionizing public health IT. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) uses the latest technologies and enterprise wide application solutions in its groundbreaking work to promote and protect New Yorkers' health and improve DOHMH's business operations.
**This is a full-time, onsite, city government position.**
Responsibilities:
Modify and develop .NET code for various .NET applications to meet the business needs.
Work with a DBA to performance tuning the existing SQL database structure.
Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts, software architects, and IT professionals to implement practical solutions
Ensure that all solutions are lightweight, scalable, and built to a high level of quality
Ensure security is being factored into each step of the software development process for various systems
Create estimates on time and effort to complete assignments based on end-user requirements
Design and develop new solutions utilizing Web Services
Mentor junior software engineers through information training, design reviews, and code reviews.
Identify project issues and ensure proper resolution and escalate issues to the Supervisor or Director when support is needed
Exercise good judgment and creativity in conducting project activities and resolving project-related issues and problems.
Preferred Skills:
Preferred minimum 5 years of strong hands-on experience of application development in .NET.
Strong knowledge and experience in C#,.NET 4.0/4.5, Angular, MVC5 , ADO.net, and Web Services.
Strong knowledge and experience in of HTML5, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, and Bootstrap.
Strong knowledge and experience developing in Microsoft SQL 2012R2/2016 environment
Knowledge of Microsoft SSIS and SSRS.
Experience translating business requirements to technical specifications and database designs. Must have strong database design experience.
Experience and comfort providing accurate project and work effort estimates.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Analytical mind with ability to think outside the box.
Proven ability to keep up to date on latest technology trends.
